Rape of young woman in Haryana by 40 men has shocked, disgusted me, says Rahul Gandhi

By oneindia staff

New Delhi, July 21: On Friday when the entire nation was busy following the proceedings in Parliament as both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi took part in the no-confidence motion debate, one more horrific gang-rape of a woman in Haryana has left everyone shocked.

Congress president tweeted about the incident to express his shock and disgust. This is what Rahul wrote on Twitter: "The rape of a young woman in Haryana, by 40 men, has shocked & disgusted me. Ironically, today in Parliament, I had drawn attention to the issue of growing violence against woman. As a nation, we must hang our heads in shame, for our inability to protect this daughter of India."

According to reports, the 21-year-old woman was held captive for four days in a private guest house in Morni Hills area of adjoining Haryana's Panchkula district. In the guest house, she was allegedly raped by 40 men from July 15 to 18.

The victim, a resident of Mani Majra area of Chandigarh, alleged that she was taken to the guest house by a man known to her husband on the pretext of getting her a job in the guest house.

During his speech in the Lok Sabha, Rahul raised several issues including Rafael deal, corruption charges against son of Amit Shah, Jay Shah, and rising rapes of women in the country. However, it was his hug to Modi and a wink thereafter that became the talking point of the whole nation.
