No hands of help for her either: 22 year-old raped, forced to drink acid, strangulated

Bareilly (UP), June 2: As if the graveness of the Badaun rape case was not enough to shatter the hearts and souls of the people, here was another incident when the authorities failed to help a 22 year-old girl who was gang-raped, forced to drink acid and later strangulated. Moreover, acid and petrol was poured on her to hide her identity. The incident happened in Baheri area of

's Bareilly district.

The victim's body was found in Aithpura village on Saturday in a mutilated state. The post-mortem reports suggested gangrape and death by strangulation. The police also said that acid was found in her stomach, indicating that she was forced to drink acid before being murdered.

SSP J Ravindra Gaur said that there was a possibility that the victim hailed from Uttrakhand. Therefore, a team has been dispatched there for investigation. Deputy SP Baheri Kalu Singh, threw some more light on the case, saying that investigation was being done on several aspects. It is also being suspected that it could be a case of honour killing or flesh trade.
