Tax: Rani Mukherjee's 'Mardaani' impresses Akhilesh Yadav, gets major reward in UP
The state government on Tuesday, Aug 26 announced exemption of entertainment tax on Rani Mukerji's latest movie. According to sources, the movie has been rewarded as it has hightlighted the problem of child trafficking in the country.
The state government has decided to exempt the film from entertainment tax as it raises awareness about the trafficking of girls and women, an official statement issued here said.

The movie was released on August 22. It already has a tax free status in Madhya Pradesh. The Bollywood actress, who played a role of a cop in the movie, impressed many women in the country as the character emphasised on the fact that women should be self-dependent when it comes to their safety.
Akhilesh government's latest decision came just days after one incident in Meerut where a woman bravely defended herself and her husband in front of a group of miscreants.
The video, in which the woman was seen beating the goons, was a viral on internet. The incident took place at a crowded chowk in Meerut when a car driven by some boys hit a couple on a bike. As a fight between the two parties broke out, the boys started to misbehave with the woman and hit her husband.
