Students in Rampur Stand Against Alleged Police Misconduct
Following allegations that a policeman slapped and pressured a woman to withdraw her daughter's kidnapping case, students from a private school protested outside their local police station. The incident led to several officers being removed or suspended and caused significant traffic disruption.
In a shocking incident in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, students from a private school staged a protest outside the local police station. The reason for their agitation was an alleged act of police misconduct involving the mother of one of their former classmates. It is reported that a policeman allegedly slapped and pressured the woman to withdraw her complaint concerning the kidnapping and harassment of her daughter.
Police Misconduct Sparks Outrage

The demonstration by these young citizens brought forward serious allegations against law enforcement personnel, leading to significant traffic disruption near the police station. The woman who bore this alleged assault is the mother of a 12-year-old girl. She claimed that certain policemen, including outpost in-charge Ashok Kumar, came to her residence on Tuesday and physically assaulted both her and her daughter.
"The policeman slapped me two-three times and my clothes got torn," she disclosed, adding that there was relentless pressure being exerted on their family to retract their case. This incident has sparked outrage among locals, prompting them to question the integrity of those meant to uphold law and order.
Administrative Action Ensues
Taking cognizance of this grave matter, swift administrative action followed as confirmed by officials from district administration. A Circle Officer along with Station House Officer (SHO) from Milak Police Station were removed from duty while two constables faced similar consequences. Furthermore, Ashok Kumar - accused outpost in-charge - has been suspended pending further investigations into his conduct.
Detailed Probe Underway
Additional Superintendent of Police Sansar Singh stated that on Tuesday itself the woman had filed a case against two teenagers under IPC sections 354 (criminal force with intent to outrage modesty) and 363 (kidnapping). These sections were invoked after it was alleged that these individuals forcibly took away her daughter on their bike. Singh confirmed that both the accused have been detained and a thorough investigation is presently underway.
The SHO, Circle Officer, and two constables implicated in this case have been removed from their posts to ensure an impartial probe into these serious allegations. The incident has highlighted the importance of police accountability and transparency in law enforcement, prompting calls for stringent action against any form of misconduct.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for reform within our law enforcement agencies. It underscores the dire need for mechanisms to hold those in positions of power accountable for their actions. While it is heartening to see swift administrative action being taken, it is equally crucial that justice is not only done but also seen to be done. This will help restore faith in our policing system among citizens who look up to them as protectors of societal order and security.
