Slamming Mrs Gandhi for the unnecessary trouble he had faced, Ramdev said, "Ask Sonia Gandhi why I was detained at Heathrow airport. I was detained at the airport for eight to nine hours for reasons I don't know."

British custom officials detained and questioned the yoga guru at the Heathrow airport, informed some sources.While some reports suggested that Ramdev was being questioned as he visited the country on a visitor visa instead of a business visa, other media reports said that Ramdev was questioned about certain medicines he was carrying with him.

Meanwhile, SK Tejarawala, spokesperson of the yoga guru, overruled all reports terming the news "baseless" that he was being questioned on carrying some medicines.

The spokesperson was quoted as saying, "It was not clear why the Yoga guru was detained for over six hours at Heathrow. He was not carrying anything with him except a small bag of personal effects. It is for the British authorities to explain why he was detained."

He also said Ramdev has been cleared to go into the city. Ramdev went to London to attend a function organised by the Patanjali Yogpeeth on the 120th anniversary of Swami Veivekanand in the next couple of days.
