Ram Vilas Paswan turns his back on Lalu, joins hands with NDA

Questioning him about the previously rumored alliance with the Congress and the Lalu-led RJD, he said that the alternative coalition was considered only when there was a deadlock.
"We believed in Congress leadership and had a special talk with them, but they did not show any seriousness. We met with Lalu Prasad Yadav in jail too even though LJP and RJD are in loggerheads, but did not get a positive response," Paswan said.
Justifying his move to join hands with the NDA, he said,"I always put party above emotions and the party decided that we should go for it. I may have joined the NDA, but my principals are steadfast. Remember, I had parted ways with the NDA on Gujarat riots."
"We are a small party and therefore we need time to prepare for the elections. Bigger parties can take decisions at a short notice too. I have been waiting for a response from Congress and RJD both for the past 6 months and was forced to take this decision," he added.
Formally, Paswan said that he has 4 days time to confirm the alliance to NDA.
