Ram Rahim sentencing: High-level meeting underway in North Block

Ahead of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's sentencing in the rape case, a high-level security officials meeting is underway on Monday in the North Block in New Delhi.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief Rajiv Jain and other Home Ministry officials are present at the meeting. They are discussing the security situation in Punjab, Haryana.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim's sentencing to take place at 2.30 pm at a special court near Rohtak, Haryana.

Last Saturday, Rajnath Singh had reviewed the internal security and law and order situation in Haryana and adjoining areas, and Jammu & Kashmir in particular with the top security brass of the country including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
After the meeting, the Home Ministry stated that "The situation in Haryana was assessed at present to be under control, though it is being carefully monitored. The home minister took note of the assurance of DGP, Haryana that the law and order situation in Haryana would be kept in control."
The situation went out of control on Friday afternoon after the Dera chief was convicted by the Special CBI court in the rape case. At least 32 people were killed and over 200 injured in the violence unleashed by the Dera supporters in Haryana and Punjab.
