Ram Rahim's quantum of sentence to be delivered in Sunaria jail, Rohtak

The Punjab and Haryana High Court also pulled up the state government following the violence that erupted in Panchkula on Friday.

The CBI court on Monday will sit in district Jail Sunaria, Rohtak, to pronounce the quantum of sentence against rape case convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

The CBI court had on Friday convicted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a 15-year-old rape case. Singh was then immediately transferred to the Rohtak prison in a chopper.

"Suitable accommodation for court rooms etc in the district jail, Rohtak at Sunaria shall be provided and arrangements also be made for the lawyers and parties to have an easy access to court room in District Jail, Rohtak," said a notification.

"Court will be in Sonaria (jail), Rohtak; arrangements being made...No person will be allowed around Sonaria jail; made adequate arrangements for the same," Haryana DGP BS Sandhu.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court also pulled up the state government following the violence that erupted in Panchkula on Friday.

In an apparent move to shield the followers of spiritual guru Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Khattar said some anti-social elements inflitrated with Dera followers resulting in the widespread violence.
