Ram Mandir On Alert: Security Tightened Following Threat From Gurpatwant Pannun

After receiving a threatening video message from pro-Khalistan leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, Ayodhya has significantly heightened its security measures. Pannun, the founder of the banned organization 'Sikhs for Justice,’ allegedly made threats to cause bloodshed at the Ram Temple during the 'Ram Vivah’ festival, scheduled for November 18, which Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adanath is expected attend.

This has led to an increase in security personnel and surveillance around the temple area to prevent any potential attacks.

In response to the threats, Ayodhya has been transformed into a veritable fortress, with a substantial increase in the presence of security forces. The deployment includes members of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), who are stationed at critical points throughout the temple town. Additionally, there has been an uptick in the use of surveillance technology, including closed-circuit television (CCTV) and drone cameras, to monitor the situation closely and ensure the safety of the temple and its visitors.

Authorities on High Alert

The security tightening follows Pannun's explicit warning of an attack on the Ram Temple, slated for November 16-17, causing concern among the local authorities and the public. This has prompted a coordinated effort from intelligence agencies, the Anti-Terrorist Squad, and bomb disposal units, all of which are on high alert. The heavy deployment not only involves the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) but also the Uttar Pradesh Police, demonstrating the seriousness with which the threats are being taken.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) RK Nayyar conveyed to the Press Trust of India that the security measures were intensified following the media reports about the threat. This proactive approach aims to ensure that any potential threat is neutralized before it can manifest into an attack. Furthermore, the city's high-security status, with trained personnel ready to counter terrorist threats, has been reinforced in light of the current situation.

Despite the severity of the threats, Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi remains confident in the city's security, attributing its protection to Lord Hanuman. He stated, "No one can dare to launch an attack in Ayodhya which is protected by Lord Hanuman," highlighting the spiritual and physical fortitude that guards the city against potential threats.
