Ram Idol At Ram Mandir: What All Symbols It Depicts?

The new idol of Ram Lalla, featuring depictions of Lord Hanuman at one foot, and Lord Garuda at the other, along with all 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu, a Swastik, Om, Chakra, Gada, Shankh, and Surya Narayan, is set for its 'Pran Pratishtha' or consecration on January 22 by the Prime Minister.

This is arguably the most detailed idol ever made of Lord Ram. On closer inspection of the now-public pictures of the idol, all 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu are portrayed on both sides of the idol.

Depictions of Lord Vishnu's avatars, including Krishna, Parshuram, Kalki, and Narsingh, among others, feature on the idol. Lord Hanuman, the greatest devotee of Lord Ram, is given a place near the right foot of the Ram Lalla idol, while Lord Garuda, the mount (vahana) of Lord Vishnu, is placed near the left foot of the Ram idol, reported News 18.

If closely observed towards the top of the statue, all holy signs of Sanatan Dharma and Hinduism can be found depicted around the head of the new Lord Ram Lalla idol. Depictions include a Swastik, the Om sign, the Chakra, a Gada, a Shankh, and the idol's face has the Surya Narayan aabhamandal around it.

All these depictions are closely associated with Lord Vishnu and Lord Ram. The right hand of the idol is in the depiction of an aashirwaad holding an arrow, while there is a bow (dhanush) in the left hand. The black stone idol, crafted by Mysuru sculptor Arun Yogiraj, is a five-year-old depiction of Lord Ram and stands 51 inches tall.

Yogiraj has previously crafted famous statues, such as that of Adi Shankaracharya installed in Kedarnath and that of Subhash Chandra Bose installed at India Gate in Delhi.

The black stone statue has a lifespan of several hundred years and is not impacted by the touch of water, Chandan, and roli - items usually applied to an idol as per Hindu traditions. The idol will be seen adorned in bright royal clothes and a mukut (crown).

All set for Ram Mandir D-Day!

For the grand ceremony, more than 7,000 people have been invited to the ceremony by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust.

Earlier this week, a review meeting regarding the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya was held by Adityanath with officials, wherein the organization of programs such as bhajans, recitation of the Ramayana and Ramcharitmanas, and Sundarkand in the temples of Ayodhya from January 14 onwards was directed.

The plans to live-stream the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Ram temple on the booth level across the country have also been announced by the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Ram temple will be opened for devotees on January 23.
