Rajya Sabha Polls: BJP Fields Nitin Nabin, Sanjay Bhatia Among Key 9 Nominees

The race for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections has intensified after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced nine candidates for the March 16 polls. The nominations signal the party's strategy to consolidate its strength in the Upper House by fielding a mix of senior leaders, former MPs and state-level heavyweights across key states.

In Bihar, BJP national president Nitin Nabin will enter the fray, alongside former MLA Shivesh Kumar. Assam will see minister Jogen Mohan and MLA Terash Gowalla contesting on the party's ticket.

In Haryana, former Karnal MP Sanjay Bhatia has been nominated, while Chhattisgarh will have senior BJP leader Laxmi Verma as the party's candidate. From Odisha, the BJP has fielded state unit chief Manmohan Samal and Rajya Sabha member Sujeet Kumar, who had switched from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) before being re-elected in a bypoll on a BJP ticket. In West Bengal, former state BJP president Rahul Sinha has been named as the party's nominee.

The Rajya Sabha elections, scheduled for March 16, are crucial for shaping the legislative arithmetic in Parliament's Upper House. While the BJP already holds significant influence, each seat adds to its ability to push forward key legislation without facing numerical hurdles.
