Rajya Sabha Election 2024: BJP's Harsh Mahajan Wins Against Congress' Abhishek Manu Singhvi After Cross-Voting
Rajya Sabha Elections 2024: The BJP's Harsh Mahajan on Tuesday emerged victorious against Congress' senior Abhishek Manu Singhvi in Rajya Sabha elections 2024 after cross-voting.
The Himachal Pradesh Rajya Sabha voting was full of thrill as the BJP faction, which had only 25 members, won with the support of 6 votes from Congress leaders and 3 votes from independent candidates.

The voting contest ended in a tie, which was broken by flipping a toss. However, luck favored Harsh Mahajan against Abhishek Manu Singhvi.
After the announcement of results for the Rajya Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh, BJP stalwart and Leader of the Opposition in state, Jairam Thakur, in Hindi, said, "Despite the Congress's substantial majority, it has suffered defeat in the Rajya Sabha election in Himachal Pradesh. I extend my congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, and Home Minister Amit Shah. We have achieved victory against all odds."
The winning candidate, Harsh Mahajan said, "This is not my victory but that of my party. This is the loss of the failures of the Sukhu Government. If the graph of the government falls so soon, it is unfortunate. Cross-voting was done because MLAs were verbal that they were unhappy with the government...I think this is the victory of the common man and that of my party."
"The State Government is in the minority right now. Fence-sitters in the government are ready to come to this side. They are unhappy with the Government. They are so upset that they can do anything. This Government won't go on, it will topple with its own weight," Mahajan added.
