Tensions Escalate In Rajya Sabha Debate On Operation Sindoor Between JP Nadda And Mallikarjun Kharge

During a heated debate in the Rajya Sabha concerning Operation Sindoor, JP Nadda, Leader of the House, took issue with comments made by Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition. Kharge's remarks targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, prompting Nadda to demand their removal from the record. He argued that Kharge's statements were made impulsively and lacked decorum.

Exchange of Words

After Kharge finished speaking, Nadda accused him of losing his composure over the remarks about PM Modi. In response to being called out for his "mental balance" comment, Kharge expressed disappointment. He mentioned that he respected Nadda as a minister in the NDA government and found it shameful that such comments were made.

Nadda later addressed the situation by retracting his words. He stated, "I have already taken back my words, but if they have hurt his (Kharge's) feelings, I apologise for the same." Despite this apology, he insisted that Kharge had overstepped boundaries with his emotional remarks against PM Modi.

Call for Expungement

Nadda emphasised that Kharge's extensive experience should have guided him to choose his words more carefully. He reiterated that Kharge's comments did not align with his stature and urged for them to be expunged from the records due to their emotional nature.

The exchange highlighted tensions between the two leaders during the session. Both leaders expressed their views passionately, reflecting ongoing political dynamics within the Rajya Sabha. The incident underscored the importance of maintaining decorum and respect in parliamentary debates.

The debate concluded with both leaders having voiced their concerns and opinions. The focus remained on ensuring respectful discourse while addressing significant national issues within the parliamentary framework.
