Rajnath Singh Assures Strong Response To Pahalgam Terror Attack, Echoes Modi’s Resolve

In response to the Pahalgam terrorist assault, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh promised the people a robust response and reiterated that the country's demand for justice would be met under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's direction. Singh said that it is his responsibility as the defence minister to provide a "befitting reply" to those who dare to attack India during his remarks at the Sanskriti Jagran Mahotsav in Delhi on Sunday.

"You know our PM very well, you are familiar with his working style, determination," Singh said, referencing Prime Minister Modi's "working style" and resolution. I want to reassure you that your wishes would undoubtedly be fulfilled under PM Narendra Modi's direction. He went on to say that India's power comes from both its rich cultural heritage and its spirituality, in addition to its military prowess.

The defence minister's comments coincide with widespread indignation over the terror incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22 that killed 26 innocent, the majority of whom were tourists. One of the bloodiest civilian attacks in the Kashmir Valley in recent memory occurred when gunmen opened fire at Baisaran meadow close to the town.

Prime Minister Modi presided over a high-level security conference earlier this week that included the heads of the three armed forces, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Modi reiterated during the discussion that India's military had "complete operational freedom" to decide on the strategy, timing, and objectives of the country's reaction to the terrorist attack. He declared, "It is our national resolve to deliver a crushing blow to terrorism," underscoring the government's unwavering commitment.

With tensions still high and calls for swift retaliation growing, the government's reaction plan is still being closely monitored. Singh's most recent remarks reaffirm the central government's message of decisive action and let enemies know that India will not put up with such provocations.
