Rajasthan: Woman's Throat Slashed, Both Ankles Brutally Severed For 2 KG Silver Anklets

A woman was discovered dead in a field on Sunday morning in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district, her throat slashed and both ankles severed.

The dismembered limbs were later recovered from a nearby pond. The suspected motive behind the brutal killing was reportedly a pair of heavy silver anklets she was wearing.

According to police, the 50-year-old woman, Urmila Meena, had been wearing two kilograms of silver anklets, which the attacker stole before fleeing the scene.

Urmila had left home early in the morning to gather firewood. When she failed to return by 11 am, her family began searching for her and ultimately found her body in a nearby field. They then alerted Bamanwas police station.

The murder triggered outrage in the village, with locals staging a protest by placing her body on the road to demand immediate justice. They insisted that the perpetrators be apprehended within 24 hours.

Despite efforts by the police to pacify the demonstrators and the victim's family, the villagers remained firm in their demand.

While police officials stated they would require at least three days to carry out a proper investigation, the protesters refused to clear the road unless arrests were made within a day.
