100-150 Booked Under Rajasthan Honour of Dead Body Act for Protest in Bhilwara
Around 100-150 people have been booked under the Rajasthan Honour of Dead Body Act 2023 for allegedly holding a protest demanding compensation for the family of a woman killed in a road accident by keeping her body on the road in Bhilwara district.
In a shocking incident, around 100-150 individuals have been booked under the Rajasthan Honour of Dead Body Act, 2023, for allegedly holding a protest by keeping the body of a woman killed in a road accident on the road in Bhilwara district. The incident highlights a blatant disregard for the dignity of the deceased and the law of the land.

Protest for Compensation and Job
According to Bhilwara Superintendent of Police Shyam Singh, the unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday when a 57-year-old woman named Nandu Bai, also known as Nandu Devi, a resident of Malikheda Mahila Ashram, was tragically killed after being hit by a mini bus. Following the accident, a large crowd gathered at the spot and blocked the road in protest.
The protesters demanded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh and a government job for a dependent family member of the victim. Despite attempts by police officers to convince the protesters to allow the body to be sent for post-mortem, they remained adamant and continued their dharna by keeping the body on the road, obstructing the movement of people and causing significant inconvenience.
Legal Action Initiated
In response to the unlawful actions of the protesters, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Rajasthan Honour of Dead Body Act, 2023, against 100-150 individuals involved in the protest. The police are actively examining videos and photographs of the protest to identify the accused and include their names in the First Information Report (FIR).
The incident in Bhilwara serves as a stark reminder of the importance of respecting the dignity of the deceased and adhering to the law. Protesting by keeping the body of a deceased person on the road not only disrupts public order but also shows a lack of compassion and sensitivity towards the grieving family. The legal action taken by the authorities sends a clear message that such actions will not be tolerated and that the law must be upheld to ensure the proper treatment of the deceased and the maintenance of public order.
