Rains continue to lash parts of Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, Aug 13: Rains lashed parts of Himachal Pradesh while the weather remained dry in the rest of the state today.

Rain-related incidents have claimed 28 lives in the state so far and the loss of property is estimated to be around Rs 350 crore, official sources said.

The mid and lower hills received moderate rains with Naina Devi recording 66 mm rains, followed by Kasauli (58), Baldwara (43), Shimla (29), Bijahi (25), Kangra and Jubbal (23 each), Pachhad (18), Dharampur and Kumarsein (15 each) and Sunni and Bhajji (12 mm each).

The day temperatures rose marginally in the lower hills with Una recording a high of 34.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar (32.5), Bhuntar (31.5), Dharamshala (28.2), Nahan (26.8), Solan (26.4), Manali (25), Shimla (21.6) and Kalpa (20.2 degrees Celsius).

The minimum temperatures dropped by a few notches with Keylong in the tribal districts of Lahaul and Spiti recording a low of 12 degrees Celsius, followed by Kalpa (12.6), Manali (13.8), Dharamshala (16), Shimla (16.2), Bhuntar (19.5), Solan (20), Sundernagar (21.1) and Una (24.2 degrees Celsius).

The MeT office has forecast rains and thundershowers at many places in the lower, mid and higher hills for the next six days.
