Railways generate revenue through scrap disposal in offices

The Ministry of Railways has generated a revenue of more than Rs 66 lakh through the disposal of office scrap during the first 13 days of its Special Cleanliness Campaign 3.0, according to an official statement released on Sunday. The ministry has also managed to free up 3,97,619 sqft of space as a result of scrap disposal, which can now be utilized for other purposes.
Special Cleanliness Campaign 3.0

The Special Cleanliness Campaign 3.0 commenced on October 1 and will continue until October 31. The campaign covers the Railways zonal headquarters, divisional offices, production units, Research Design and Standards Organisation, training institutes, and more than 7,000 stations. The Railways has set a target of conducting 10,722 cleanliness drives until October 31.
Focus on Scrap Disposal
As part of this campaign, special focus is being given to scrap disposal in offices and workplaces. The Railways has set a target of freeing up 3,18,504 sq. feet of space through scrap disposal. To achieve this target, more than 5,297 cleanliness campaigns have been conducted during the campaign till 13th October 2023.
Public Grievances Redressal
In addition to scrap disposal, the campaign has also focused on resolving public grievances. More than 1.02 lakh public grievances were resolved during the campaign.
Revenue Generation and Space Optimization
The special focus on scrap disposal in offices and workplaces has resulted in freeing up 3,97,619 sq. feet of space and generating revenue of approximately Rs 66.83 lakh through the disposal of office scrap. Furthermore, more than 51,954 files have been reviewed for the purpose of recording and weeding.
