Raids on TN minister: VC of MGR university appears before IT sleuths

The Income tax department also sent summons to actor couple Raadhika and Sarath Kumar. Sarath Kumar had appeared before officials on Tuesday but has been summoned once again.

After Tamil Nadu health minister Vijaya Bhaskar and actor-turned-politician Sarath Kumar, the vice-chancellor of Dr MGR medical university appeared before income tax officials. Dr Geetha Lakshmi who was also raided simultaneously as raids were conducted by IT sleuths at Vijaya Bhaskar's properties appeared for questioning following summons.

Dr S Geetha Lakshmi was to depose before officials from the income tax department on Tuesday along with Vijaya Bhaskar and Sharathkumar but delayed the process and sought a stay on the same. Dr Geetha Lakshmi moved court seeking a stay on the summons issued to her. The same was rejected by the court following which she was issued fresh summons by the Income tax department.

Dr Geetha Lakshmi's name and the university's name appears in documents said to have been unearthed during raids at Vijaya Bhaskar's properties. Income tax officials continued raids on offices and residences of Sharath Kumar's wife Raadhika on Tuesday as well. summons were issued to the couple to appear before the Income Tax officials before 3 PM on Wednesday.
