Rahul visits Modi's native Mehsana, pays homage to Sardar Patel
Rahul Gandhi began day 3 of Navsarjan Yatra from Patan in Gujarat.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday evening arrived at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's native district Mehsana in Gujarat where he addressed a rally and paid homage to Sadar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The region is also the epicentre of Patidar quote agitation.
"Two sons of Gujarat threw out the British from India. Mahatma Gandhi ji and Sardar Patel ji," he said in his address.
Rahul also garlanded the statue of Sardar Patel and stood there with his hands folded.
Just before arriving in Mehsana, the Congress vice president offered prayers at Bahuchara Ji Temple and said, "Main Shiv ka bhakt hoon, sachaai mein believe karta hoon. BJP jo bhi bole main apni sachaai mein believe karta hu (I am a devotee of lord Shiva. I believe in truth. Whatever the BJP may say, I believe in my truth)."
Rahul Gandhi began day 3 of Navsarjan Yatra from Patan in Gujarat. The day began with a visit to Vir Meghmaya Temple in Patan.

According to reports, Rahul Gandhi even broke through security barricades to meet villagers in Patan district. While talking to the Scheduled Caste leaders, he attacked the RSS and promised to work for the betterment of the backward castes.
