Congress is likely to field MP Rahul Gandhi once again from Amethi against BJP's Smriti Irani in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, according to the reports. The reports added that the grand old party is aiming to clinch back their bastion Amethi, which was won by Smriti Irani in 2019 in a close contest. At that time, Smriti Irani emerged victorious with 55,120 more than Rahul Gandhi.
In 2019, Rahul Gandhi entered the Lok Sabha from Kerala's Wayanad.

The reports added that senior leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra may contest from the Rae Bareli constituency after her mother Sonia Gandhi decided to move to Rajya Sabha.
Amethi and Raebrali have been Congress' stronghold in Uttar Pradesh and this time they will also get support from Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party, which is a party of the INDIA bloc.
Recently, Congress and the Samajwadi Party sealed a deal for Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha Elections. As per the announcement made by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, his party will contest 63 seats, while Congress will field candidates on 17 seats including Rae Bareli and Amethi. He had also announced that by joining hands Congress and SP are expected to get more votes than BJP.
Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi shared the stage and addressed a sea of supporters in Agra, which raised hopes for the INDIA bloc to win maximum seats in Uttar Pradesh and make a way to Delhi through Lucknow.
The Lok Sabha elections are slated for April-May this year.
