Rahul Gandhi Says RSS Believes In Restricting Women, BJP Hits Back

During his public addresses in Dallas, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp critique of the BJP and its ideological parent, the RSS.

Speaking to both the Indian diaspora and students at the University of Texas, Gandhi touched on a wide range of topics, from India's political landscape to social issues.

Addressing the diaspora, Gandhi highlighted the ideological differences between Congress and the RSS, saying, "The RSS believes India is one idea, while the Congress considers it a multiplicity of ideas. That is the fight."

He also mentioned the recent Lok Sabha election results that denied the BJP a majority, remarking that the "fear of BJP" vanished after the results. He praised the people of India for resisting what he called an "attack on the Constitution," emphasising that the achievement was not of the Congress or himself, but of the Indian people.

In his interaction with students, Gandhi addressed the issue of low female labor participation in India, attributing it to a "bad attitude" among Indian men toward women.

"In a large number of Indian males, attitude towards women is ridiculous," he said, stressing the need for a mindset shift to treat women equally.

He connected this issue to the broader ideological clash between BJP/RSS and the Opposition, stating, "BJP/RSS believe that women should be restricted to a particular role, they should stay at home, cook food, they should not talk too much. We believe women should be allowed to aspire to whatever they want to do."

Gandhi also discussed unemployment in India, comparing it to China's success in employment through production. He argued that the West and India had shifted away from manufacturing, while China had maintained its dominance in global production.

"The act of production creates jobs. What we do, what the Americans do, what the West does, is we organise consumption," he explained.

The BJP was quick to react. National spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused Gandhi of favoring China, stating, "Is it because of his MoU with the Communist Party of China that he always bats for China and does not bat for India?"

He further criticised Gandhi for his attacks on India's legal system, calling it part of a strategy to "divide and rule."

Bhandari added, "The essence of Rahul's speech is, it is against Bharat, against the women of India and it is everything that China or any other power want to further their agenda in India."

He concluded by asserting that the Indian public would continue rejecting Gandhi and the Congress, as they had done in previous elections.
