Rahul Gandhi Promises Restoration Of Statehood For Jammu and Kashmir In Ramban Rally

Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday addressed a sea of supporters in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir. Rahul Gandhi here kick started the election campaign for the INDIA Bloc for the forthcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections 2024. This time, Congress has joined hands with Farooq Abdullah's National Conference (JKNC) for the 90 assembly seat contest.

While wooing the voters of Jammu and Kashmir in INDIA Bloc's favour, Rahul Gandhi from stage promised that he and his party will work on the restoration of the statehood status.

Lashing out at the BJP's Narendra Modi Government, Rahul Gandhi said, "Statehood must be restored because not only has your state been taken away, but your rights and wealth are also being stripped from you. In 1947, we removed kings and established a democratic government with a constitution. Today, in Jammu and Kashmir, a king called the LG still rules, and your wealth is being taken away and given to outsiders..."

Rahul Gandhi said that INDIA bloc wanted the Central Government to restore the statehood before assembly elections, however, they did not want it. But if India Bloc wins in this election, Our first step will be giving back the statehood to J&K."

"Modiji has created unemployment in the entire country. Have you heard of Adani? He is a friend of Modiji. Whoever does any small businesses, the Prime Minister introduces GST for them", he said.

Rahul Gandhi termed the election as a fight between the two 'ideologies'.

"You must have observed that the RSS and th BJP are disseminating hatred and violence in the country. The fight is between the two ideologies -- hatred and love. We have given the slogan of 'opening shops of love in a market full of hatred'. Only love can defeat hatred", Gandhi added.

Polling in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1 and results will be announced on October 8.
