Rahul Gandhi Pays Tribute To Former PM Indira Gandhi With Shoes On; BJP Criticises | Watch Videos

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi once again has been surrounded by controversies. During his recent visit to the Madhya Pradesh Congress office, Rahul Gandhi was seen paying tribute to his grandmother and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, while wearing shoes. This act was not liked by social media users, and the video of the incident went viral in no time. Reacting to the video, BJP criticised Rahul Gandhi's gesture, calling it disrespectful and against Indian cultural values.

The video shows Rahul Gandhi approaching a framed photograph of Indira Gandhi and placing flowers at its base. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed disapproval, stating that such actions do not align with Indian "sanskar" or values. "He is the Leader of the Opposition. He has the right to come here. But paying tribute to his Dadi ji with shoes on? That doesn't suit our culture. He should have been more careful," Yadav said.

Congress' New Campaign

Rahul Gandhi's visit to Bhopal coincided with the launch of the Congress' Sangathan Srujan Abhiyan. This initiative aims to rejuvenate the party ahead of the 2028 state elections. Before launching this campaign, Gandhi chaired a significant meeting at Indira Bhawan with senior leaders like Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh.

The Congress party has faced challenges in recent years, having governed Madhya Pradesh briefly from 2018 to 2020. The new campaign is seen as an effort to regroup and prepare for future elections. The state Congress unit chose not to directly address BJP's criticism but instead focused on promoting their new campaign's objectives.

Despite the backlash, the Congress remains focused on energising its workers following their poor performance in recent elections. The Sangathan Srujan Abhiyan is part of their strategy to rebuild from the ground up and regain political strength in Madhya Pradesh.
