Rahul Gandhi Loses Cool...Know What Happened

Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, had a sharp exchange with journalists in the Parliament complex after being repeatedly questioned about a possible privilege motion against him.

The tense moment unfolded as Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju signalled that the government may move a privilege motion, alleging that Rahul Gandhi made "baseless statements" during the recent Union Budget debate, particularly over the India-US interim trade deal.

When reporters pressed him on whether he was prepared for such a notice, Rahul Gandhi pushed back, accusing sections of the media of amplifying the ruling party's narrative.

"You are not totally employed by the BJP. At least try and do a little bit of objective stuff... it gets really shameful," Rahul Gandhi told journalists. Rahul Gandhi further said that media professionals had a responsibility to remain independent and not simply repeat what was being said by the government.

"You are responsible people. You are media people, you have a responsibility to be objective. You can't just take a word they give you every day and run your whole show on that. You are doing a disservice to this country," he added.

The exchange came against the backdrop of heightened tensions in Parliament following Rahul Gandhi 's strong criticism of the government over the trade agreement with the United States.

While the government maintains that Rahul Gandhi misled the House, the Congress leader's confrontation with the media added another flashpoint to an already charged political atmosphere in the ongoing session.
