After visiting relief camps in several places and interacting with victims of violence from both Kuku and Meitei communities, the Congress leader opted to go to the Raj Bhavan in Imphal to deliver the message of the people of the state and urge the government to do better arrangements to restore peace in the state.

It was a 45-minute-long meeting in which Rahul Gandhi told the Governor that the Opposition is ready to support in every manner to restore peace in the state.

Earlier today, Rahul Gandhi, while addressing the press conference, said that he has come to meet and listen to the problems of the people of Manipur. He said the state needs special attention and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should visit the state at the earliest and take big steps to restore peace.

"I want to tell all the people of Manipur, I come here as your brother, I come here as somebody who wants to help you, who wants to work with you to bring back peace in Manipur," Rahul Gandhi said.

"The need of the hour is peace. Violence is hurting everybody; thousands of families have been harmed and I have never seen, anywhere in India, what is going on here. The state is completely split in two and it is a tragedy for everyone involved," he added.

Rahul Gandhi also expressed displeasure towards the BJP-led state government as he was expecting a better situation by now, but the situation in the state is still tensed.

Rahul Gandhi reiterated that he has not come to Manipur to do any politics and his intentions are only to help people of the state.
