Rahul Gandhi Having Lunch With This Vegetable Vendor Goes Viral, Details Inside

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday had lunch with a special guest, vegetable vendor Rameshwar. The latter was recently recorded sobbing on camera while discussing his struggles with inflation.

Sharing his picture with Rameshwar, Gandhi said in Hindi on X, "Rameshwar ji is a lively person! In him, the glimpse of the affable nature of crores of Indians can be seen."

"Those who move forward with a smile even in adverse circumstances are true 'Bharat Bhagya Vidhata (India's destiny makers)'," Gandhi said.

The Congress also shared their picture on X, earlier known as Twitter, and said, "Rameshwar ji had expressed his desire to meet the people's hero. They met up."

The picture posted on platform X shows Gandhi and Rameshwar having lunch at the former's home here and the two sharing light moments during the meeting.

In the viral video, Rameshwar was seen with his empty hand cart, saying that he could not buy tomatoes as the prices were very high.

Asked if he would buy some other vegetable, he said, "Paise nahin hain" and then broke down. The video had gone viral and had been shared by Rahul Gandhi as well as several other Congress leaders to hit out at the government over rising prices.

In the video posted by the Lallantop news website, which went viral, Rameshwar had said that buying tomatoes and selling them was hazardous as you may or may not get the money back. "We are not even sure at what price we will be able to sell it. If they get damp in the rain or something happens to the stock, we end up making a loss," the distressed farmer said while talking to the reporter.

Rameshwar said that he was barely earning Rs 100 a day while his house rent itself is Rs 4,000.

The vendor lives in Jahangirpuri and had reached the wholesale vegetable market along with his son to buy tomatoes for his retail shop.
