Rahul Gandhi Brings Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Kumari Selja Together With This Special Gesture| Watch Video

Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi on Monday ended speculations of rift between Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Kumari Selja fractions by bringing both the top leaders of Haryana together. At a rally in Ambala , while showcasing the strength of the party, Rahul Gandhi brought together Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Kumari Selja, giving "all is well" message to party workers.

The two leaders, who lead opposing factions within the state Congress unit, stood beside Gandhi as he joined their hands in a show of unity. This gesture aimed to dispel any rumours of internal discord ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections.

Rahul Gandhi addressed the crowd with promises aimed at social welfare. He assured that the Old Pension Scheme would be reinstated in Haryana. "We will re-implement the old pension scheme and for social security, and Rs 6000 every month will go into the bank accounts of widows, elderly people, and disabled people," he stated during his speech.

Focus on Social Welfare

Gandhi also highlighted plans to support farmers and women in Haryana. He promised guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers. Additionally, under the Mahila Shakti Yojana, women would receive Rs 2000 monthly. "Under the Mahila Shakti Yojana, Rs 2000 every month in the bank accounts of women will be deposited. LPG cylinders will be given for Rs 500," he added.

The unity displayed by Hooda and Selja was particularly noteworthy given their history of rivalry within the party. Hooda had previously secured a significant number of tickets for his supporters during candidate selection, while Selja managed fewer tickets for her faction. This disparity had led to tensions within the party ranks.

Internal Party Dynamics

Reports suggested that Selja felt sidelined due to her limited influence over ticket distribution. Despite this, she met with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge recently. It is believed that Kharge encouraged her to set aside differences and work towards a Congress victory in Haryana.

Hooda has been a dominant figure in the state's Congress campaign, having secured 72 out of 90 tickets for his loyalists. In contrast, Selja could only secure nine tickets for her supporters and failed to get a ticket for Dr Ajay Chaudhary from Narnaund despite earlier announcements.

This rally marked an attempt by Rahul Gandhi to project a united front within the Haryana Congress unit as they gear up for upcoming elections. By bringing together these key leaders on stage, Gandhi aimed to reassure party members and voters alike about their collective commitment to winning in Haryana.

The rally's focus on social welfare schemes reflects Congress's strategy to appeal to various voter demographics across Haryana. With promises targeting pensioners, farmers, women, and other vulnerable groups, Gandhi sought to strengthen support for his party ahead of crucial assembly polls.
