BJP drags Abhishek Manu Singhvi's family into Nirav Modi scam

Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday, in a press conference, said that Congress' allegations against the Centre are misleading people. She said that repeating lies is a strategy being adopted by Congress.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman alleged that Rahul Gandhi attended a promotional event of Gitanjali Gems owned by Punjab National Bank scam accused Mehul Choksi in 2013. Sitharaman said Gitanjali Gems was suspended for six months from doing business on NSE in 2013.

Sitharaman, in a press conference, said that Congress' allegations against the Centre are misleading people. She said that repeating lies is a strategy being adopted by Congress.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a fresh case against Gitanjali group of Mehul Choksi, the uncle of billionaire Nirav Modi, for allegedly causing a loss of Rs.4,887 crore to the Punjab National Bank. In the fresh FIR, the CBI has named Mr. Choksi and his three companies, Gitanjali Gems, Gili India and Nakshatra Brand Limited.

"Original sin in Nirav Modi fraud was committed in 2011. The Letters of Understand (LoU) hold good only for 90 days. But the accused PNB officer kept rolling the LoUs till he got retired. He didn't put details in the banking system which lead to no one detecting the scam," she said.

On PNB Fraud Case, she said, "The entire might of the government has been invoked to pin the culprit Nirav Modi in the fraud case immediately after it came to light."

She further said that Fire star diamond international pvt ltd one of the companies of Nirav Modi. They have acquired it from Advait Holdings and one of the shareholders of it is Anita Singhvi since 2002. Anita is wife Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

"Fire Star Diamond I'nal Pvt Ltd is one of the companies that Nirav Modi runs. They've taken on lease property which belongs to Advait Holding Ltd in Trade Point Building in Lower Parel. From 2002 Anita Singhvi is one of the shareholders. You know who's wife she's, " Sitharaman said.

"And also has Avishkar Manas Singhvi, possibly his son. But the wife of one of the senior Congress leaders is here as a property (Advait Holding) shareholder, she is a director by designation," she added.
