Rahul Gandhi Alleges ED Preparing To Raid Him: 'Chai, Biscuits On Me'

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, claimed on Friday that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is planning to raid him in response to his recent 'Chakravyuh' speech during the Union budget discussion.

Gandhi stated that ED "insiders" informed him about the planned raid.

"Apparently, 2 in 1 didn't like my Chakravyuh speech. ED 'insiders' tell me a raid is being planned," Gandhi posted on X, adding, "Waiting with open arms @dir_ed.....Chai and biscuits on me."

During his speech on the Union budget for 2024-25, Gandhi invoked the concept of 'Chakravyuh' from the Mahabharata to critique the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He used the metaphor to suggest that a modern-day 'Chakravyuh' has been created in the form of a lotus, symbolising the BJP, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at its center.

Gandhi alleged that six individuals, including PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and others, are at the core of this 'Chakravyuh'.

However, when he attempted to name the other individuals, Speaker Om Birla disallowed it, noting they were not members of the House.

Gandhi further argued that this 'Chakravyuh' traps various segments of the Indian population, such as youth, women, farmers, and small and medium businesses.

He accused the government of creating a "'Chakravyuh' of unemployment and paper leak" and criticised the Agniveer scheme, claiming it entraps young people.

In a subsequent post on X, Gandhi reiterated his point, stating, "Today a 21st century lotus-shaped Chakravyuh is trapping India and is controlled by six figures: Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Adani, Ambani, Ajit Doval, and Mohan Bhagwat."
