Rahul comment: Mayawati hits back, calling Congress anti-Dalit

Rahul-Mayawati
New Delhi, Oct 9:Its payback time for Mayawati on the same lines of Rahul Gandhi's comments of her "capturing the Dalit movement and not letting them grow in UP politics".

In a public meeting with party workers at the Bahujan Prerna Kendra on the seventh death anniversary of Kanshi Ram, Mayawati alleged that the Congress government was casteist and divisive, which is why they did not declare a state mourning for the party founder.

Why did Congress party declare a day's morning for Kanshi Ram?: Mayawati

Calling the attitude disdainful, she said, "This is the reason why the Congress-led government at the Centre did not declare even a day's mourning on his death for which our people will never forgive Congress. This is a proof of their anti-Dalit mentality for which we criticise them in strong words."

Addressing a programme on National Awareness for the scheduled castes empowerment, Rahul Gandhi criticized Mayawati saying,"If you want to take this (Dalit) movement forward, then one Dalit leader or two Dalit leaders would not be enough. Lakhs of Dalit leaders are needed....the leadership of the movement has been captured by Mayawati. She doesn't allow others to rise." He further said that the Dalit community requires the "escape velocity" of Jupiter to stem Mayawati's power over the seat.
