Radicalisation coupled with population Jihad in Assam and the need to reign in it

The Assam police have launched a crackdown on illegal marriages in Assam. Reports say that over 1 lakh minor girls had been married off and one girl at the age of nine had become a mother

New Delhi, Feb 07: The population explosion has been a major problem in Assam. Illegal marriages, high-rate of infiltration from Bangladesh are some of the major contributing factors for the rise in Muslim population in Assam.

The 1901 census showed that the Muslims were in majority in the districts of Gopalpara (27 per cent) and Cachar (30 per cent). Cut back to 2020, the population in Gopalpara and Cachar are at 57 and 38 per cent respectively.

In the district of Bongaigaon, the Hindu population rose by 2.3 per cent as opposed to 31 per cent by Muslims. In Barpeta the rise of the Muslim population stood at 32 per cent as opposed to the 17 per cent by Hindus. In Kokrajhar, the Hindu population rose by 4 per cent when compared to the 19 per cent by Muslims. In all, the rise in population of Hindus in Assam is at 13 per cent when compared to the 29 per cent growth of the Muslims.

In 2004, Minister of State for Home Affairs had said that there are 50 lakh illegal Bangladeshis in Assam of which only 2.61 lakh were originally from Assam. He however withdrew his statement by saying that it was a casual comment.

C S Mullan, commissioner of census had said after conducting the 1931 census that there is a likelihood of the whole structure of Assamese culture and civilisation being permanently altered due to the invasion of a vast horde of land-hungry Bengali immigrants, mostly Muslims from the districts of eastern Bengal.

Hotbed for Jihadis:

The Mullahs from Bangladesh have actively been promoting both land and population Jihad. In the ongoing crackdown on illegal marriages, the Assam police have arrested 2,278 accused, including 60 Qazis from districts of central and lower Assam having a large population of illegal Bangladeshi Muslims.

Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that more than one lakh underage girls were married off and many of them became child mothers, including a nine year old girl.

Sarma had last year said that Assam had become a hotbed of Jihadis. It was learnt that two hardline Imams were involved in radicalising the youth from the Al-Qaeda in Assam.

An official tells OneIndia that in a bid to further their agenda, the radicals are ensuring a population explosion in Assam. If one looks at the manner in which the Muslim population has grown, it is a clear sign that there is a major agenda behind it and the idea is to make snatch away the culture and identity of Assam and align it more towards a Sharia law, the official explained.

The problem has become so immense today thanks to the successive Congress regimes which since independence encouraged illegal immigration of crores of Muslims from Bangladesh. They were all given citizenship and they remained loyal to the Congress at the time of the elections.

The population of Muslims in Assam from 24 per cent in 1951 to 40 per cent by 2021. In 1851 there were just 19.95 lakh Muslims and by 2021, it rose by 652 per cent and now the number stands at 1.5 crore. In 33 districts, according to repots (https://swarajyamag.com/politics/explained-why-assam-cm-himanta-biswa-sarma-said-his-state-has-become-a-hotbed-of-jihadists), the Muslims are in majority. They also form over a third of the population in five other districts, the repot also said.

The Madrasas:

With the huge influx of Muslims from Bangladesh into Assam came the Madrasas. They were 1,000s of Madrasas which preached Jihad and also instructed the illegal immigrants to produce more children in a bid to make Assam a Muslim majority.

However there are a lot of changes since the BJP came to power in 2016.

The government ordered the closure of government funded Madrasas in a bid to curb radicalisation. Further the state police were ordered to keep a tight vigil on Madrasas in the state. The police gave emphasis to this directive and mounted the vigil on unregistered Madrasas and other institutions suspected of preaching violent Jihad.

What these radicals plan on doing is to create panic in the state. They will look to use such crackdowns to radicalise more Muslim youth in the state. At the end of it, these persons would want to be in majority in the state and then go on to grab the lands of the Hindus in more ferocious manner and eventually look to drive them out.
