R K Nagar: TTV files nomination with a hat on his head

AIADMK's deputy general secretary managed to grab eyeballs by wearing his symbol on his head while filing his nomination papers with the election commission officials

The process of filing nominations for the R K Nagar assembly constituency bypolls ended on Thursday. A total of 60 candidates filed their nominations which will be scrutinised on Friday. Saturday will be the last date to withdraw nominations is March 27.

Sasikala Natarajan camp's candidate and AIADMK's deputy general secretary managed to grab eyeballs by sporting a hat, his symbol for the bypoll, while filing his nomination papers with the election commission officials. TTV Dinakaran's party, now named AIADMK Amma, was allotted the 'hat' symbol for the April 12 bypolls in R K Nagar and he made it a point to start his campaign from the word go.

Former chief minister O Panneerselvam camp's candidate E MAdhusudhana filed his nomination papers earlier in the day. The party with the name AIADMK Puratchi Talaivi Amma will contest under the 'electric pole symbol'. The OPS faction of the AIADMK visited Jayalalithaa's memorial ahead of filing nominations. Jayalalithaa's niece, Deepa Jayakumar filed nomination to contest in the R K Nagar bypoll as well. Deepa claimed that she was the heir to Jayalalithaa's legacy and will win her aunt's constituency.

While BJP's candidate Gangai Amaran also filed his nomination on Thursday while DMK's candidate Maruthu Ganesh had filed papers earlier. Meanwhile, Vaiko's party MDMK has decided to boycott elections.
