Quota stir: Maratha Kranti Morcha begins ‘jail bharo’ agitation in Mumbai
MUmbai, Aug 1: The Maratha Kranti Morcha (MKM) on Wednesday embarked on "jail bharo agitation" beginning Mumbai, which will be undertaken across the state between August 1 and 9. A team of 14 MKM members will stage demonstrations at the Azad Maidan and spell out their demands.
The outfit is demanding a decision on the Maratha quota at the earliest, take back all cases against Maratha protesters, action against the officers responsible for firing and lathi charge during July 25 protest, resignation or sacking of ministers MLAs who gave irresponsible statements against Maratha community.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai police claimed to have ample security arrangements for "Jail Bharo Andolan" in Mumbai to maintain law and order.
The police has also been asked to be on alert in other parts of Maharashtra as well in wake of "Jail Bharo Andolan" called by the Maratha Kranti Morcha.
