An alert traffic constable made timely intervention to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to a man, who collapsed on the roadside in Hyderabad on Friday upon suffering a cardiac arrest, and saved the latter's life.

As bystanders looked on in shock, traffic constable Rajasekhar sprang into action, administering CPR without wasting a moment. Constable Rajasekhar is posted at the Rajendranagar Police Station and was managing traffic when the incident occurred. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.

The act of Rajashekhar, a constable from Rajendranagar Traffic Police Station under Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, was praised by Telangana Health Minister T Harish Rao and several others, who described his efforts as commendable after a video of the policeman administering CPR went viral on social media.

The minister said the state goverment will conduct CPR training to all frontline employees and workers next week in view of increasing reports of such incidents.

Cyberabad Police said the man from L B Nagar collapsed on the roadside following heart attack and Rajashekhar noticing this demonstrated exceptional professionalism and presence of mind in saving the precious life.

Upon recognising the critical situation, he promptly administered CPR to the person, leading to his recovery, police said. The man was subsequently shifted to a hospital. "With great relief, we announce that the individual is now doing well," Cyberabad Police tweeted.

Telangana Health Minister Harish Rao Thanneeru tweeted,''Highly Appreciate traffic police Rajashekhar of Rajendranagar PS for doing a commendable job in saving precious life by immediately doing CPR".

Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Stephen Raveendra also tweeted, "It is with immense pride, I commend the timely act of #CyberabadTrafficPolice Sri Rajashekhar of Rajendranagar PS. His effective administration of CPR has saved the life of a young man. I appreciate Rajasheker's spontaneity & dutifulness. May his act inspire others."

Netizens also appreciated Rajashekhar's efforts in saving the life of the man and many pointed out that every citizen should be trained to conduct CPR.
