Punjab YouTuber's Murder Case: Akal Takht Head Granthi's Comment Sparks Debate

The tragic murder of 27-year-old social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, also known as Kamal Kaur or 'Queen', has ignited both public shock and religious commentary. Her body was discovered in a decomposed state on June 11 inside a parked car at Adesh Medical University in Bathinda, Punjab. Authorities suspect she was killed elsewhere and her body placed in the vehicle with a fake number plate to mislead investigators.

Kumari, who had over 3.83 lakh followers on Instagram and was known for her bold and controversial content, had reportedly travelled to Bathinda on June 9 for a promotional event. She lost contact with her family soon after reaching the city. Locals at the university alerted police after noticing a foul smell coming from the car, leading to the discovery.

Punjab YouTuber s Murder Case

Amidst the ongoing investigation, Giani Malkit Singh, the head granthi of Akal Takht Sahib, made strong remarks about the case. Speaking in Punjabi, he condemned vulgarity in online content, stating, "The Guru has always guided us to stay away from vulgarity-be it Hindu, Sikh, or Muslim. Those who adopt false identities and defame the Sikh community must be stopped. There is nothing wrong in action being taken against such behaviour."

Singh's comments have sparked debate, with many questioning the implication that Kumari's murder was justified, while others argue his words highlight a need for moral accountability in social media content.

Investigation and Arrests

Police are currently investigating multiple angles, including a prior threat Kumari received from Canada-based terrorist Arsh Dalla. Last October, he allegedly warned her against posting "inappropriate" videos. Although this link is being probed seriously, investigators have not ruled out other motives.

Significant progress has been made in the case. Two suspects, Jaspreet Singh from Moga and Nimratjit Singh from Tarn Taran, were arrested on June 13. Authorities have also identified two more individuals connected to the crime, including Ranjit Singh. The prime suspect, Amritpal Singh Mehron, reportedly fled to the UAE shortly after the murder.

Efforts to bring all culprits to justice are ongoing, with the Punjab Police closely examining digital evidence and communication records to uncover the full extent of the plot.
