Punjab SP let off in Pathankot attack case is absconding
Salwinder Singh, the Superintendent of Police who was abducted and released by the terrorists who attacked Pathankot is absconding. Nearly 24 hours after a case of rape and corruption was filed against him, the police have no clue about his whereabouts.
Salwinder Singh who is posted at the 75 PAP battalion in Jalandhar, Punjab was not present in office. We were not intimated by him and have no idea where he is his colleagues and superiors said. The commandant of the battalion wrote to his superior that Singh had not reported for duty and has been absent.
The complainant a resident of Geeta Bhawan road in Gurdaspur had alleged that Singh visited his house regularly in connection with the probe. During his visit he had allegedly sought bribe of Rs 50,000 to close the case against him. Further he has alleged that Singh had forced his wife to develop a physical relationship with him.
Singh also is facing charges of harassment after a complaint was filed by 5 lady constables. He was to appear before the committee yesterday and record his statement. However he did not turn up. The police are now trying to ascertain his location. The police had said that they wanted to question him and if the need be an arrest would have been carried out.
