Punjab SDM Narrowly Escapes Vehicle Attack During Illegal Mining Patrol
In a concerning incident in Naraingarh, an SUV car allegedly engaged in a dangerous pursuit of the sub-divisional magistrate's vehicle during a late-night patrol aimed at curbing illegal mining activities. The event, which unfolded at 1 am on the night of March 27-28, saw the official's car being targeted not once but twice at high velocities, narrowly avoiding collision each time. The occupants of the SUV, believed to be linked to the mining mafia, managed to escape the scene immediately after the attempted assault.

This alarming attempt on the magistrate's vehicle underscores the ongoing struggle against unauthorized mining operations in the region. The incident has prompted a swift response from local law enforcement, with an FIR being filed on Saturday, detailing charges against the SUV's owner and driver. These charges include obstruction of government work and an attempt to murder, highlighting the severity of the confrontation.
The FIR reveals that SDM Yash Jaluka, accompanied by his security guard and three others, was patrolling in a private car when they noticed the SUV trailing them. Efforts to halt the suspicious vehicle near Toka Sahib Gurudwara village's bridge were met with aggressive maneuvers as the SUV's occupants tried to ram into the official's car before fleeing.
This is not an isolated incident of violence associated with illegal mining activities in the area. Nearly two years prior, Deputy Superintendent of Police Surender Singh faced a fatal encounter when he was allegedly run over by a dumper truck during a raid against illegal stone mining in Nuh district. Furthermore, a little over a year ago, suspected members of the mining mafia reportedly attacked a police team in Panipat's Bapoli area.
The recent inspections and raids conducted to check for illegal mining in Naraingarh's rivers mark a continued effort by authorities to clamp down on these unlawful activities. However, the dangerous confrontation faced by SDM Yash Jaluka and his team highlights the significant risks government officials encounter while performing their duties. The case registered by Naraingarh Police on April 6 serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by those who resist these enforcement actions.
