Punjab Police Arrests Ram Saroop, Alleged Serial Killer Linked to 11 Murders in 18 Months

A man from Punjab's Rupnagar district has been apprehended for allegedly murdering 11 individuals over the past year and a half, according to officials. The suspect, Ram Saroop, also known as Sodhi, hails from Chaura village in Hoshiarpur district. His arrest on Monday in connection with another case led to the discovery of his serial killings during interrogation.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Rupnagar, Gulneet Singh Khurana, stated that directives were given to officers to resolve serious crime cases in the area. A dedicated police team was established to catch those involved in murder cases. Khurana mentioned a specific murder case in Kiratpur Sahib where a 37-year-old man working at Toll Plaza Modra was killed on August 18.

Investigation Unveils Serial Murders

The investigation into the Kiratpur Sahib murder resulted in Ram Saroop's arrest. During questioning, it was revealed that he was involved in multiple other murders. Police explained that Saroop would offer rides to men in his car, rob them, and kill them if they resisted. This pattern of crime emerged during his interrogation.

Officials disclosed that Saroop confessed to committing 10 additional murders apart from the Kiratpur Sahib case. His crimes extended to Fatehgarh Sahib and Hoshiarpur districts. The accused used various methods to kill his victims, including strangulation and using objects like bricks.

The police's efforts to solve these heinous crimes have led to significant breakthroughs with Saroop's arrest. His modus operandi involved targeting unsuspecting men by offering them lifts, which eventually turned fatal if they opposed his robbery attempts. This revelation has brought relief to the community as authorities work towards justice for the victims.
