Punjab and Haryana Political Leaders Express Condolences for Manmohan Singh's Passing
Political figures from various parties expressed their condolences on Thursday night following the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at 92. AIIMS Delhi confirmed Singh's passing, stating he was admitted to the emergency department on Thursday evening in critical condition after a sudden loss of consciousness.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini highlighted Singh's significant role in India's development, describing his contributions as unforgettable. Saini noted Singh's simplicity and expressed hope for peace for his soul and strength for his family during this challenging time.
Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda praised Singh as a remarkable economist and a leader in economic reforms. Hooda remarked, "I am saddened by the news of the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, a great economist of the world, a pioneer of economic reforms in India and one who, through his work, took the country forward on the path of progress and gave it a distinct identity across the world."
Tributes from Political Leaders
Congress leader Hooda also described Singh's death as an irreparable loss, extending his heartfelt condolences to Singh's family and supporters. Similarly, former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister O P Soni mourned the loss, acknowledging India has lost a great leader.
Punjab Finance Minister and AAP leader Harpal Singh Cheema expressed deep sorrow over Singh's passing. He recognised Singh as a visionary economist and statesman whose contributions to India's growth and global stature will be cherished. Cheema added, "May Waheguru Ji grant peace to his soul and strength to his family #Manmohan."
Legacy of Economic Reforms
Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa reflected on Singh's legacy as the architect of India's economic reforms. Bajwa stated, "The architect of India's economic reforms and one of the most humble and dignified leaders India has known has left us." He admired Singh's wisdom and leadership that guided India through significant challenges with grace.
Bajwa further acknowledged Singh's dedication to civil discourse and democratic values, noting that his contributions to India's progress will be remembered. He concluded with a tribute: "Rest in peace, Sir. The nation mourns the loss of a true statesman and a gentle giant of Indian politics."
