Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Ambala in Haryana had also recorded severe chill during daytime yesterday as the maximum temperature hovered close to 10 degrees Celsius in the four towns.

Chandigarh also experienced piercing cold as the temperature last night settled at 4.4 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.

In neighbouring Haryana, the minimum in Ambala settled at 5.2 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal and 5.4 degrees Celsius in Hisar, two notches below normal. Karnal and Narnaul recorded lows at 5 degrees Celsius, the report said.
