Punjab gangster Goldy Brar wanted in Moosewala killing named in Canada’s fugitive list

Canada has placed gangster Goldy Brar, who claimed responsibility for the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala at the best of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang on the list of 25-most wanted.

An Interpol notice had been issued against Brar last year. The gangster hails from Punjab's Mukhtar. He is wanted for murder, criminal conspiracy, supply of illegal firearms and attempt to murder in India.

Brar was last year said to have moved to the US even as the Indian agencies are tracking Punjab gangsters based in Canada.

This development comes in the wake of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the gangster-terror nexus case. The NIA has learnt that this is a well oiled mechanism which specialises in high-profile killings and smuggling of arms and drugs. The gangs have also threatened popular personalities.

The names of Brar and 25 other top criminals were announced at an event marking the fifth anniversary in Toronto, be on the lookout programme. Brar's name was taken from the Interpol red notice. The alert describes him as Satinderjeet Singh also known as Goldy Brar (29). It also says that he was born in Shri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab, is 1.75 metres tall and weighs 100 kilograms. He is one of the two non-Canadians on the list, with the other from US.

Among the crimes listed against him are murder, criminal conspiracy, supply of illegal firearms and attempt to murder.

Life-size cutouts of all 25 fugitives were displayed at the Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto. Their most wanted notices were also shown on video billboards in the same area.

CA$750,000 ( Rs 45,264,612.76) have been offered in total rewards for information leading to their arrests.

Brar entered Canada in 2017 as a student. He is considered to be an active member of the Bishnoi gang.

Be on the lookout programme director, Max Langlois said that the initiative allows all to stand up against those who are accused of unthinkable acts of violence and are dying the rule of law by avoiding arrest.
