Punjab: 16-year-old girl dies after gangrape; case registered

A 16-year-old girl died under the critical condition on Monday after allegedly being gangraped in Fazkila's Jalalabad city in Punjab on 25th October.

The incident happened when the girl was returning from the school when the three motorcycle-borne youth, including a minor boy, allegedly waylaid her.

As per the complaint, the victim was taken to nearby fields where she was gangraped by the three youth.

It is learnt that the victim died due to excessive bleeding and the victim's family did not initially disclose the incident and it was after the death of the girl that few fellow villagers informed the police.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police of Jalalabad,''a Case has been registered on the basis of the mother of the girl's statement. Search for all the three accused is underway.''

A case murder and gangrape have been registered against the three accused. The body has been sent for a postmortem. No arrests have been made so far and the investigation is underway.
