New Pune Top Cop's Crackdown On Crime, Publicly Parades 260 Criminals

Pune Police Commissionerate took a proactive step by parading 260 criminals and issuing stern warnings against illegal activities and the glorification of such acts through online reels on social media platforms. Notorious gangsters like Gajanan Marne and Nilesh Ghaywal were among those present.

In a significant move to curb criminal activities and maintain law and order, the Pune Police Commissionerate paraded over 260 criminals on record on Tuesday, February 6.

The purpose of this exercise was to issue strict warnings to these individuals, cautioning them against engaging in illegal activities and refraining from posting reels on social media platforms that glorify their criminal acts.

Notorious Gangsters Among Those Warned

Among the criminals who were paraded before the police commissioner's office were notorious gangsters like Gajanan Marne, Nilesh Ghaywal, Baba Bodke, and Tipu Pathan. These individuals, along with others with criminal antecedents, were seen attentively listening to the instructions and warnings issued by senior police officials from the crime branch.

Proactive Approach by New Police Commissioner

The initiative to counsel and warn criminals on record is part of a proactive and pre-emptive drive initiated by the newly appointed Pune Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar. After assuming charge last week, Kumar had announced his intention to create a list of the top 20 criminals from every police station where they are facing cases. This list aims to keep these individuals in check and prevent them from committing further crimes.

Counseling and Updating Dossiers

Speaking to reporters, Commissioner Kumar emphasized that the drive was designed to ensure that criminals on record are properly counseled and made to behave and act within the parameters of the law. He revealed that their dossiers have been updated, and they have been asked to cooperate fully with the officials. Additionally, their current activities and fingerprints are being updated to maintain accurate records.

Message of Strict Action

The IPS officer made it clear that the purpose of asking these criminals to appear before the commissionerate was to convey a loud and clear message that any violation of the law will invite strict action. He stressed the importance of proactive measures rather than reactive responses to crimes. The exercise aimed to prevent criminals from committing offenses in the first place, rather than merely taking action after the fact.

Warning Against Glorifying Criminal Acts on Social Media

Commissioner Kumar specifically warned criminals on record against uploading reels online that glorify their illegal acts and activities. He emphasized that such actions will not be tolerated and will be met with severe consequences. The police are committed to maintaining law and order and will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of Pune.

The Pune Police Commissionerate's bold move to parade and counsel criminals on record sends a strong message that the authorities are serious about combating crime and maintaining public order. By taking proactive measures, the police aim to prevent criminal activities, rehabilitate offenders, and create a safer environment for the citizens of Pune.
