Pune Police Intensify Probe into Fatal Car Crash Involving Minor Driver

In a significant development in the investigation of a fatal car crash involving a Porsche and resulting in the death of two IT professionals, Pune police have mobilized an extensive team to delve into the case. The incident, which occurred on May 19 in Kalyani Nagar, has led to the registration of three separate cases by the authorities. The driver of the Porsche, allegedly a minor, is said to have been behind the wheel without a valid license, leading to a tragic accident that has since sparked widespread investigation efforts.

The police's response includes forming over a dozen teams with more than 100 personnel focusing on various facets of this complex case. Among the cases filed are FIRs against the accident itself, a local bar for serving alcohol to the minor, and allegations against the boy's father for permitting his son to drive without proper licensure. Additionally, there's a case concerning the alleged wrongful confinement and coercion of the family's driver to accept blame for the incident.

Significant arrests have been made in connection with the case, including the minor's father, grandfather, and mother. The latter was apprehended following revelations that her blood samples were substituted for her son's. Pune Police Chief Amitesh Kumar highlighted these developments, underscoring the seriousness with which authorities are treating this matter. Furthermore, two doctors from Sassoon General Hospital and an employee have been taken into custody for their alleged role in swapping the minor's blood sample.

The legal framework guiding this investigation encompasses several acts including the Indian Penal Code, Juvenile Justice Act, Motor Vehicle Act, and Prevention of Corruption Act. Shailesh Balkawade, Additional Commissioner of Police Crime, elaborated on the structured approach being adopted by the police. This includes forming specialized teams for investigating registered cases, documentation, CCTV footage analysis, technical analysis, field operations, escorting accused individuals, and communication.

This comprehensive strategy aims at ensuring a thorough and meticulous examination of all aspects related to this tragic event. As part of their investigative efforts, police officials also interacted with the minor involved in an observation home under his mother's supervision. However, officials noted a lack of cooperation during this process.
