Public utilities should accept Rs 1000, 500 notes: Sitaram Yechury
Yechury reiterated that the government should allow all white transactions through old currency notes till December 30
New Delhi, Nov 14: Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI-M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on Monday said the demonetised currency notes of Rs 1,000 and 500 should be accepted by public utilities and hospitals till alternate arrangements are made.
Yechury reiterated that the government should allow all white transactions through old currency notes till December 30.

"The central government and the state governments should direct all public utilities and emergency services to accept old currency notes of Rs 1,000 and 500 denominations as a measure to give instant relief to the public," Yechury told the media here.
"If Kerala government can do it, why can't other state governments do it?" he added.
Yechury said that till sufficient printed money is made available and the ATMs reconfigured, the decision of demonetisation should be kept in abeyance.
"All white transactions should be allowed till sufficient printed money is made available," he said.
