PU offers Chair professorship to former PM Manmohan Singh
Chandigarh, Jan 23: The Panjab University here has offered Chair Professorships to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi, among others.
The University has also offered Chair Professorship to noted economist Prof Yoginder K Alagh and Padma Bhushan awardee Ela Bhatt, an official release said here tonight.

The PU Syndicate today approved the proposal to nominate Singh, Satyarthi, Alagh and Bhatt as Chair Professors of Jawaharlal Nehru Chair, Lal Bahadur Shastri Chair, Dr Manmohan Singh Chair and Mahatama Gandhi Chair at the University, respectively, the release said.
Dr Manmohan Singh is PU alumnus and has also taught there as a Professor while Satyarthi was honoured with Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) at the previous annual Convocation of the varsity.
