Protests Erupt in Mathura Following Controversial Claims About Lord Krishna's Caste
Protests erupted in Mathura after wall inscriptions claimed Lord Krishna was a Jat, leading to police action. Officials reported that an FIR was filed and an investigation initiated. According to mythology, Nandgaon in Mathura is where Lord Krishna was taken by his foster parents, Yashoda and Nand Baba, to shield him from King Kansa. Traditionally, Lord Krishna is seen as part of the Yaduvanshi lineage.

Recently, writings titled "The History of Nandgaon" appeared on walls of shops and homes in Nandgaon, asserting that Lord Krishna was a Jat. These inscriptions included the name Kunwar Singh and a phone number. Attempts by locals to contact this number were unsuccessful. As tensions rose, Subdivisional Magistrate Sweta Singh instructed the nagar panchayat to file a case.
Efforts to Trace the Accused
Clerk Ramjeet lodged an FIR against Kunwar Singh for spreading misinformation about Lord Krishna and hurting public sentiment. Police have launched a search for the accused based on the complaint from the nagar panchayat clerk. However, no concrete information about his identity or whereabouts has emerged yet.
The phone number provided is inactive, according to local SHO Arvind Kumar Nirwal. "We will trace the phone number through the telecom company and identify the individual using the ID provided during registration," he stated. He assured that strict action would be taken to maintain peace and harmony in the town.
Authorities' Response
Meanwhile, the nagar panchayat has removed all such statements from public spaces. Authorities have reassured residents that the situation is under control. Efforts are ongoing to identify and locate Kunwar Singh, but progress has been slow due to limited information.
The inscriptions have sparked significant concern among locals, prompting swift action from officials to address potential unrest. The community remains vigilant as authorities work diligently to resolve the issue and ensure stability in Mathura.
