Mangaluru, Nov 18: The prohibitory order under section 144 of CrPc imposed in the city limits here has been extended till November 23 in view of assaults and stone-pelting incidents in the communally-sensitive areas, a top police official said today.
City Police Commissioner M Chandra Sekhar told reporters that the order had been extended as some miscreants in the communally sensitive areas of Ullal and Konaje were trying to disturb peace through assaults and stone-pelting on religious places.

Tension prevailed in areas under Konaje and Ullal police station limits, despite increased security over several instances of stabbing and assaults reported in recent days.
Prohibitory orders were imposed in the city due to controversial "Tipu Jayanti" celebrations by the state government on November 10.
It has been now extended as there had been four incidents of assaults on youth belonging to different communities and a stone pelting incident during the last one week.
