Professor Kalburgi murder: Police questioning Shri Ram Sena activist

Bengaluru, Sept 3: The City Crime Branch is questioning a Shri Ram Sena activist in connection with the murder of Professor M M Kalburgi. The activist, Prasad Attavar had reposted a message justifying the killing of Professor Kalburgi which led to the CCB to pick him up for questioning.

The CCB says that they are questioning him to ascertain if he had any links with the killers of Professor Kalburgi. We want to find out what prompted him to re-post the message justifying the killing of Professor Kalburgi.

Two days back the Mangalore police had arrested one person claiming to be a co-convenor of the Bajrang Dal. This person who goes by the name Bhuvith Shetty had posted a message on his twitter account justifying the murder of Professor Kalburgi. The message also went on to warn another scholar by the name KS Bhagwan and it stated, "you are next."

Shetty was arrested in Buntwal near Mangalore, but was released on bail later. The police did not find any link between him and the murder of Professor Kalburgi.

Professor Kalburgi a noted Kannada scholar was murdered at his residence in Dharwad on Sunday last. Two persons came on a motor cycle and shot him at point blank range.
